Māoriland Needs You!

Māoriland Film Festival is growing with over 85 screenings and events scheduled for the 2020 festival. We can’t wait to share the programme with you all and we will need your help to bring the magic of Māoriland to life!

We are now calling for Kaitūao – Volunteers and are seeking candidates for four paid positions. 

Māoriland Hub and Ticketing Supervisor

The Māoriland Hub Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Māoriland Hub including the Ticketing desk in the lead up to and during MFF2020. 

This is a significant role that is paid and will require someone who is technically on-to-it, a problem solver, trustworthy, an excellent communicator and team leader.   

Kaitiaki Para Kore

During the five days of the Māoriland Film Festival, the population of Ōtaki doubles in size. That’s more than 12,000 people attending our screenings and events. Māoriland Film Festival wants to ensure that the impact on our beautiful whenua is as light as possible. Therefore we initiating a Para Kore trial at MFF2020 as we aim towards becoming a zero-waste event. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic hands-on person who is passionate about waste minimisation to deliver our Para Kore project. This is a significant paid role that will require an excellent communicator and team leader.  The Māoriland Pare Kore co-ordinator will be responsible for managing a team of volunteers and communicating these efforts in real time to our community and festival visitors.

Kaitūao Supervisor

We greatly value the support of those who volunteer their time and energy to help make Māoriland Film festival better each year. These volunteers or Kaitūao are involved in every aspect of the MFF and gain valuable experience of running a large scale exciting event. 

We are looking for an on-to-it enthusiastic people person to co-ordinate our Kaitūao for Māoriland Film Festival 2020. This is a paid role that will require an excellent communicator and team leader. An adaptable problem solver who can think on their feet and has the energy to last the festival week.

M.A.T.C.H Supervisor

In 2019 Māoriland piloted M.A.T.C.H – the Māoriland ‘Ahi (Fire) Tech Creative Hub. In 2020 M.A.T.C.H will be expanded to support rangatahi to become creative tech leaders through training, mentorship and industry-led opportunities. 

During MFF2020 M.A.T.C.H will showcase creative technology from across the Indigenous world with four VR installations at the Māoriland Hub.

We are looking for someone to manage the M.A.T.C.H space during MFF2020. This is a paid role that requires a tech-savvy person to help install the VR works, manage kaitūao (volunteers) and assist audiences to view the VR works. 

This role has the potential to expand into a fixed contract with the Māoriland Charitable Trust following the festival. The MCT is looking for someone to lead the delivery of M.A.T.C.H in terms 2 – 4 as part of the rangatahi team at the MCT. This is a part-time role based in Ōtaki that requires knowledge and experience using digital technology and creative media and would be well suited to a recent graduate/student in this field.
