Director Dan Mace
Director Bio "Dan Mace is a director and illustrator, specialising in animation and time-based art. During his career he has directed live-action and animated short films, music videos, television commercials, TV titles sequences and programmes, as well as producing animated graphic content for exhibitions, live performance, and experiential video installations. A love of storytelling first drew Dan to the process of film making, and this connection with narrative, text and language has stayed with him, linking the various processes he employs in his work. Dan acknowledges his mixed Māori and Irish heritage when discussing his practise, in particular the rich oral and visual traditions of both indigenous cultures. As his ancestors used materials such as wood, stone, linen and flax, Dan uses layers of digital media woven together to articulate stories and emotions. True to his moniker, Dan works with his partner Rona Ngāhuia Osborne from a remote mountainous location in the distant far north of Aotearoa New Zealand."
