Indigenous Key Creative Ruby Solly
Indigenous Key Creative Bio Ruby Solly (Kai Tahu, Kāti Māmoe, Waitaha) is a writer, musician, and academic residing in Wellington. She has been published in journals such as Starling, Minarets, Poetry NZ, Landfall and Oscen amongst others. Ruby also works as a recording artist and session musician and has performed with artists such as Whirimako Black, Trinity Roots and Ariana Tikao. She recently completed a masters thesis on the use of taonga p?oro within music therapy in acute mental health care. Ruby has worked as a music therapist with taonga p?oro in a rage of settings including schools, assisted living, mental health care, and prisons. She is about to begin a PHD continuing this mahi and hopes that taonga p?oro will be more widely seen as the incredible rongoa that it is. This is her first short film.
