  • Director Bio Te Waiarangi Ratana is an emerging writer/director born in Hamilton and grew up in Ohope Beach, Te Waiarangi is now based in Lower Hutt. A confident leader and resilient worker, Te Waiarangi achieved his Certificate in Introduction to Film and Television Production at the NZ Film School in 2017. Since graduating, has been working consistently in film, television and other media platforms. In 2018, Te Waiarangi wrote, starred in, directed and edited ‘Bubs’ - a short created for Maoriland Film Festival’s E Tu Whanau Rangatahi Film Challenge, for which he won Best Drama and Best Actor. Te Waiarangi currently spends his time writing, directing and editing his personal creative projects with a commitment to telling Maori stories authentically on-screen, and working as assistant director on other productions.
