Te Reo O Te Kori Tinana – Contemporary Dance Classes for Rangatahi

Express yourself through dance at the Māoriland Hub!
Esteemed dance artist and choreographer Bianca Hyslop will lead contemporary dance classes for different age groups, each Tuesday, starting on the 25th of July.
Delve deep into contemporary dance techniques and choreography from a tikanga Māori perspective.
This term the tamariki and rangatahi will collaborate to create a unique short music video – with a focus on creating a choreography that tells the story of the chosen waiata.
Limited spaces are available for this exciting chance to learn from a renowned talent and to meet others interested in dance.
Kanikani is a free after-school course but you must enrol to attend.

About Bianca Hyslop
Bianca Hyslop (Te Arawa/Ngāti Whakaue/Tūhourangi/Ngāti Wāhiao/Pākeha) (Tup Lang Choreographic Award 2019, CNZ) is a freelance artist/dancer/choreographer. She has worked specifically within the Māori Contemporary Dance Sector for over ten years and been involved in highly influential dance projects including indigenous development, cultural research and cross cultural laboratories for interdisciplinary art makers gracing the national and international stage with the likes of Atamira Dance Company and Okareka Dance Company.
Her Choreographic work includes: Choreographer/Co-director ‘Te Mauri o Pōhutu’, Kia Mau Festival (2021), Assistant Choreographer, Hōkioi/ Vwōhali, Okareka Dance Company, New Zealand Festival (2020), ‘Pōhutu’, Co-Directed by Bianca Hyslop and Rowan Piece, Kia Mau Festival, Tempo Dance Festival (2019), Manu Dance Collective, Macau International Youth Dance Festival (2019) Atamira Dance Company’s Hou Season (2018), Unitec’s graduation season (2018), The New Zealand Dance Company, Tempo (2016).
