The purpose of this FREE wānanga is to engage hapū māmā, whānau and community with knowledge and quality experiences in the creation of wahakura.
This kaupapa is delivered through the application of tikanga tuku iho in everyday practices such as correct safe sleeping for tamariki mokopuna.
The weaving of wahakura is a Kaupapa and Mātauranga Māori event introducing Te Whare Pora, the domain of Hineteiwaiwa, atua wahine of traditional fine arts and childbirth.
During the wānanga participants will learn about the importance of wahakura, the connection of oriori and safe sleeping, and rongoā Māori.
Participants will be supported to complete their wahakura and provided with resources to enhance the experience of hapūtanga and whakawhānau pēpi.
