He Pō Kiriata – Special screenings from the Māoriland Film Festival!
Join us for a special one-night-only celebration of filmmaking from Ōtaki. This evening of screenings showcases 6 stories deeply connected to our place, our people, and our creativity. Come and experience the voices, humour, and creativity of Ōtaki on the big screen, together at Māoriland.

From September to November, a selection of Thursday nights will be your chance to slow down, sink into a beanbag, sit back in a chair, and lose yourself in the magic of cinema. Bring your own pillow and blanket if you wish!
To kick start this series of special screenings, we will be showing some of the films made here in Ōtaki, paying homage to the friends of Māoriland who have featured in and supported these films, by putting on a kai in celebration. These films are:
– Te Hokinga Mai o Ngā Taonga Whitiāhua ki Raukawa
– The Lawnmower Men of Kapu
– The Gravedigger of Kapu
– Ruarangi
– Tuia Ngā Here
