Māoriland Charitable Trust is looking to employ a creative and highly organised manager to oversee M.A.T.C.H – the Māoriland Tech Creative Hub. 

M.A.T.C.H – the Māoriland Tech Creative Hub is the creative training centre of the Māoriland Charitable Trust with a focus on film and digital creative arts.  Our aim is to support rangatahi to use and unleash their creative thinking and problem solving skills to develop creative solutions for our future.  We have achieved some stunning results.

Working within the M.A.T.C.H team, the Tech Creative Hub Manager will support the delivery of the following M.A.T.C.H initiatives: 

  • Animation and Filmmaking Trades Training Course
  • Rangatahi Filmmaking workshops across Aotearoa
  • Puritia Incubator – Filmmaking skills training 

This position will champion M.A.T.C.H initiatives for Māori utilising extensive community networks, knowledge of te Ao Māori and of Māori models of practice. As the manager you will be organised, be confident using technology and have excellent communication (written and verbal) as well as reporting and administrative skills. 

POSITION: Tech Creative Hub Manager

REPORTING TO: Māoriland Senior team

WORK LOAD: Full time – 40 hours a week 

LOCATION: Māoriland Hub, Ōtaki

PAY BAND: $70 – 90,000 per annum plus benefits

You will be responsible for the planning, implementation and reporting for M.A.T.C.H activities, supported by the M.A.T.C.H team. 

This includes: 

  • M.A.T.C.H Trades Training Course including: 
    • Programme Administration
    • Recruitment & ongoing relationship management of participants
    • Programme Planning alongside MATCH Facilitators
    • Programme coordination including recruitment of facilitators
    • Delivery of M.A.T.C.H Trades Training Course Programme alongside MATCH Facilitators
    • Liaise with industry to grow opportunities for programme participants. 
    • Ensure that the Māoriland Storytelling team has adequate materials to promote the programme. 
    • Ensure that the Māoriland Leadership Team are regularly updated on the progress of the programme. 
    • Report on MATCH Trades Training Course Activities
  • Oversee the delivery of the Puritia Incubator by the Puritia Project Co-ordinator alongside Māoriland Leadership 
  • Oversee the delivery of the Rangatahi Filmmaking workshops known as E Tū Whānau Rangatahi Film Challenge by the E Tū Whānau Project Coordinator alongside Māoriland Leadership 
  • Curate and present the M.A.T.C.H exhibition at Māoriland Film Festival alongside M.A.T.C.H Facilitators 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to produce and implement a project plan to a brief
  • Experience managing a team 
  • Knowledge of te Ao Māori and Māori models of practice
  • Confident using technology and able to pick up new digital tools with ease.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills 
  • Ability to follow a budget and keep track of project expenditure. 
  • Enthusiastic about working with rangatahi.
  • Self motivated and trustworthy

USEFUL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Practical understanding and experience working in the screen industry. 
  • Knowledge of animation and/or creative technology
  • Technical skill including familiarity with Adobe Suite.
